Day 1 – Arrival in Jordan
After breakfast make a visit to what is considered the most complete and best preserved city of the Decapolis, the ancient Greco-Roman city of Jerash, just an easy hour drive from Amman. In the afternoon continue on to Ajloun, visit the crusader castle, dating from 12th century AD. Your overnight stop is in a hotel at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, some 400 meters below sea level. Due to an extremely high content of salts and minerals, as the name suggests the sea is devoid of life. However, it is these very minerals that give the Dead Sea its renowned curative powers, recognized for over 2,000 years.
After a morning of relaxing by the Dead Sea travel to Madaba, known for its markets, ancient mosaics and nearby Mount Nebo, where Moses looked over the Promised Land. Then head down the King’s Highway via Karak – dominated by its Crusader castle, to Petra. This is a long (5-hours) but interesting day’s drive. Overnight near Petra
Diving in Aqaba, time to relax and enjoy the underwater world with eight shore dives included. There’s also plenty of history to be explored, and don’t forget to shop for your souvenirs in the Souqs.
