Merry Christmas from all of us here at Above and Below Adventures!!
Although Jordan, is a mainly a Muslim country, it is such a delight to see that the Christian community here celebrating this special time of year. It truly is a wonderful place and a great example to the rest of the world of how different religions can live along side each other in peace and harmony.
Of course it is a lot less commercial than in the west, there are not Christmas lights up on every street – but it is not frowned upon to celebrate it. Most hotels, shops and businesses will have some form of decorations and it is officially seen as a holiday. So don’t be surprised if most places are closed on the 25th. Christian families tend to spend the morning at church followed by family gatherings and dinner.
This year it will be a long weekend as the Muslim community will be celebrating the prophet Mohammad’s Birthday on the 24th.
